Boise High soccer player Miah Mollay earns Gatorade honor . Boise High's Miah Mollay was named Idaho's 2008-09 Gatorade girls soccer player of the year Thursday. The 5-foot-10 senior forward scored 29 goals and added eight assists as she led the Braves (15-3-2) to a third-place finish in the 5A state tournament in October. The 5A Southern Idaho Conference player of the year had a game-winning goal or assist in 11 of Boise’s 15 wins this season. Mollay, who recently signed a national letter of intent with Arizona State, finished her two-year varsity career with 47 goals and 12 assists. She plays club soccer for Les Bois Soccer Association. "Miah Mollay is probably the most dangerous player in the state," former Capital High coach Casey Marlenee said. "She's one of those girls — we left her alone for 20 seconds and she slid through so fast she scored a goal. She’s so quick.” The 5A SIC has produced the last three Idaho players of the year in girls soccer. Eagle's Halley Kreminski won the award for the 2007-08 season and Capital's Brandy Hickcox won in 2006-07. Kreminski and Hickox recently completed their freshman campaigns at the University of Portland and Boise State, respectively. |
